If your Elfsight Google Reviews widget has disappeared from your website, you've most likely hit the free plan's limit of 200 views a month. Once you go over, Elfsight hides the widget until your views reset, so your best social proof vanishes right when your site gets busy.
This guide explains why that happens, what to look for in a free Elfsight alternative, and how to switch in a few minutes. We make RepU, so we've kept every Elfsight detail to what Elfsight publishes itself and linked to the source. All details were checked on 31 October 2026.
Quick answer: RepU's Google review widget is free forever, with no view or review limits. Elfsight's free plan allows 1 widget and 200 views a month, then deactivates the widget until the next reset. To switch, add the RepU code to your site and remove the Elfsight code.

Why Elfsight's free widget disappears
Elfsight counts a view each time someone loads a page with your widget. Views aren't unique visitors, so one person browsing five pages uses five views. Two widgets on the same page count as two views, and the limit covers every page and website the widget is on.
When you pass 200 views, Elfsight says your visitors won't see the widget, and it looks as if it was never installed. It comes back on your next view refresh date, or straight away if you upgrade.
Here's what that means in practice. If your homepage gets 10 visits a day, you'll use 200 views in about 20 days, and your reviews will be missing for the rest of the month.
What to look for in a free Elfsight alternative
- Automatic review updates: new Google reviews should appear without you doing anything.
- Clear branding terms: most free widgets show a small link to the provider. Check what it looks like before you commit.
- Easy install: one line of code you can paste into any website builder, with guides for your platform.
- No view cap: the widget should stay on no matter how much traffic you get.
