Google doesn't give you a way to show your reviews on your own website. To embed them, you need a review widget, which pulls your reviews from your Google Business Profile and keeps them up to date.
Embedding is the easy part. Most guides stop there, but where you put your reviews matters just as much, because a review only helps if visitors see it at the moment they're deciding. This guide covers both. We make RepU, a free Google review widget, so the steps below use RepU, but the placement advice works with any widget. Everything here is current as of 31 October 2026.
Quick answer: sign up for a review widget, select your Google Business Profile, and paste one line of code into your website. Use a corner widget to show reviews on every page, and a carousel to put reviews right next to the content that matters, like your services, contact page, and booking pages.
How to embed Google reviews in three steps
- Sign up free: create a RepU account with your Google account. There's no contract and no credit card.
- Select your business: choose your Google Business Profile, and RepU pulls in your rating, review count, and reviews. Got more than one location? Add them all.
- Copy and paste: choose your widget style, copy your code, paste it into your website, and publish.
From then on, new Google reviews appear on your site automatically. There's nothing to update.
Carousel or floating widget?
RepU gives you two styles, a floating corner widget and a carousel, and you can use both on the same site.
| Style | Where it shows | Best for | How to add it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carousel | Horizontal review cards inline on your page, wherever you place it | Putting reviews next to key content | Paste the code into an HTML block on the page |
| Floating | A minimisable card pinned to the left or right corner of every page | Keeping reviews in view across your whole site | Paste the code just before the closing </body> tag, or in your site-wide code settings |
Both match your brand with a light or dark theme and your colours, and use your site's font, so they look like part of your website rather than a bolt-on. You can also:
- Choose which ratings to show: include any mix of 1 to 5-star reviews. Showing a range can help, as Google notes that a mix of feedback often feels more trustworthy.
- Lock it to your domain: list your website's domains, and the widget won't load anywhere else.
- Set the carousel speed: reviews rotate automatically every 3, 6, 9, or 12 seconds, or you can turn auto-rotate off.
Where to put Google reviews on your website
Think about the moments when a visitor is close to deciding, and put your reviews right there.
Booking and checkout pages
This is where doubt creeps in. A few reviews near the "Book now" or "Pay" button remind people why they chose you. A corner widget works well here, because it doesn't push your form further down the page.
Contact page
People who reach your contact page are almost ready. A carousel above or beside your contact form gives them one last nudge to get in touch.
Homepage
Your homepage gets the most visitors, so show your rating early. A carousel just below your main heading and button works well, so people see your reviews without scrolling far.
Landing pages for ads
Visitors from ads don't know you yet, and they're quick to leave. Put a carousel near the top, and keep the corner widget on, so reviews are never more than a glance away.
Service and product pages
Put reviews next to the thing being reviewed. A plumber's hot water page and a salon's colour page both benefit from reviews that mention that service.
Tips for mobile
- Check it on your phone: open your live site in a private window on your phone, not just on your computer.
- Don't cover your buttons: if your site has a floating chat or call button, put the corner widget on the other side.
- Keep carousels below your main heading: visitors should see what you do first, then why people trust you.
Will a review widget slow down your site?
It shouldn't. RepU's widget loads in the background, so the rest of your page doesn't wait for it. If you're using several widgets or apps, test your page speed before and after with a free tool like Google's PageSpeed Insights.

Frequently asked questions
Can I embed Google reviews for free?
Yes. RepU's Google review widget is free forever, with no view or review limits. It shows a small "Powered by RepU" link.
Do I need a developer?
No. If you can paste text into your website builder, you can add the widget. If you'd rather hand it over, you can email the code to your developer from RepU.
Will embedded reviews show stars in Google search?
No. Google doesn't show review stars for reviews about your own business that you add to your own website. Embedded reviews still build trust with the people who visit your site.
Can I use a corner widget and a carousel together?
Yes. Many sites use the corner widget on every page and add a carousel to key pages like the homepage and contact page.
